01 What to expect at this price
Christmas tree skirts and tree collars are both trending on Pinterest this year, and searches peak in late November.
We picked skirts and collars with a real Amazon discount and noted size on each, because the wrong size is the main reason they look off.
02 What to check before you buy
- Measure firstMantels, doors, trees and tables come in every size. Check the listed dimensions against yours before ordering.
- Skirt or collar?Collars look neater on slim trees; skirts catch needles.
- Check the delivery dateHoliday decor sells out and ships slower from mid-November. The date under the price is the one that matters.
- Check the price historyA discount is measured against a list price the seller sets. CamelCamelCamel or Keepa will show what the item actually sold for over recent months.
03Tree skirt or tree collar?
A tree skirt is a soft circle that hides the stand and catches needles. A tree collar is a rigid ring that wraps the base and looks neater on slim trees. Both are popular on Pinterest this year.
Size to the tree. Skirts of 48 inches suit most 6 to 7.5 foot trees; smaller trees look lost on a big skirt.
Knit and faux fur skirts look the coziest but collect needles. On a real tree, a smoother fabric is easier to keep clean.
04Before you buy: the boring checks that save money
Confirm who is actually selling. 'Ships from and sold by Amazon' or 'Fulfilled by Amazon' from an established seller gives you Amazon's returns process. A third-party seller shipping directly may have their own terms, and recovering money is slower.
Look for a clippable coupon under the price. It is a checkbox that takes a further amount off at checkout, it stacks with the discount already shown, and it is the single most commonly missed saving on the site.
Sort the reviews by most recent rather than reading the top ones. A four-and-a-half star average built three years ago tells you nothing about the unit shipping today, particularly in categories where sellers change suppliers between production runs.
